We are inviting applications for a Visiting Medical Officer Vascular Surgeon to join our expanding service.

We require our new Vascular Surgeon to be eligible for Specialist Registration (Vascular Surgery) and with a determination to provide quality surgical services in a rural environment. 

About us

With the Acute Services Building opened in 2017, the new Wagga Wagga Base Hospital is one of the busiest referral hospitals in NSW with over 40,000 Emergency presentations and 11,000 operations annually. The Hospital has 340 beds, 8 theatres, a 12 bed ICU and modern angiography facilities. The new Ambulatory Care Wing is expected to commission in 2021.

The Wagga Wagga Department of Surgery covers General, Vascular, Urology, ENT, Plastics and Paediatric Surgery. We service a catchment area of approximately 250,000 people and provide surgical services to a number of smaller sites including Young, Cootamundra, Temora, Tumut, Narrandera, Leeton, and Griffith. We also have two clinical schools based out of UNSW and Notre Dame University.

About the role

The position is designed to fill a 1-in-3 Vascular roster. The role will involve elective and emergency theatre and angiography lists, on-call work, and the clinical management of admitted and referred surgical patients. The VMO will also have responsibilities for training, supervision, and education of junior doctors.

There is also potential to work at the Calvary Riverina Private Hospital and also two Day Procedure Centres – Riverina Day Surgery and Calvary Riverina Surgicentre.
