JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a busy Aboriginal Community Dental Specialist based in the Katherine area with a focus on delivering primary and clinical health care services to the Aboriginal people in Katherine and surrounding communities in a style and manner that makes clients feel welcome and comfortable. They are seeking a Dental Assitant to join their friendly and high performing team supplying acute and general care, chronic disease, alcohol and other drugs, social and emotional wellbeing and client support services. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Dental Assistant or Dental Receptionist who wants to commence their Cert IV in Dental Assisting to join an energetic and positive team with a fantastic culture.
This role would suit someone who loves engaging with the team and patients, with a strong understanding of Indigenous culture and who has a keen appetite to learn new skills. The right applicant will have exceptional communication skills and an ability to prioritise tasks effectively. For the successful applicant on top of the competitive salary, accommodation will be provided as well as a travel day payable from home to NT and return.
Job Responsibilities
  • Chair-side assistance including routine and specialist procedures
  • Prepare the work area for procedures
  • Be able to establish professional and caring patient relationships, including actively educating patients in home care personal oral hygiene
  • Collaborate with Dentists to ensure exceptional treatment and patient experience is delivered
  • Assist with Sterilisation of instruments and equipment
  • Manage patient billing and receipting
  • Schedule appointments and prepare patients for their appointment
  • Restock treatment areas, maintain all equipment and assist the team with stock control
About You
  • Cert IV in Dental Assisting and Oral Health Promotion or be willing to obtain
  • An understanding of Indigenous Culture relevant to Katherine Town and local communities
  • Current National Police Certificate (no less than 3 months from issue date)
  • Current Northern Territory Driver’s Licence
  • Current Working with Children’s Clearance (Ochre Card)
  • Min 2 years' experience as a Dental Assistant
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Great attitude - initiative, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic
  • Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures
  • Confident to assist with complex clinical procedures
  • Demonstrated exceptional organisational and time management skills
