JOB DESCRIPTION

Organisational context: We work with people from 7-years to adult, to enable them to lead a fulfilling and active life and to feel good in themselves. Our core focus is wellness through the use of meaningful occupations.

We help people with physical difficulties, chronic and neurological conditions, or social-emotional challenges, to live a satisfying life by offering:

  • Activities that support daily living skills

  • Assistive technology assessments and trials to enhance lifestyles

  • Self-care and routine development

  • Play and social skills interventions

  • Functional assessments

  • Paediatric intervention and groups

  • Supportive independent living assessments

  • Home modifications.

Our model of care includes working with Allied Health Assistants.

The role

Deliver evidence-based, client-centred Occupational Therapy practice across a varied caseload ranging from paediatric to older adults with differing conditions. Working with clients, families and caregivers in the ACT and Southern NSW. 

  • Under direction, perform assessments, ADLs assessments, non-standard assessments and ongoing intervention using evidence-based approach in a family model of care.

  • Maintain compliance with workplace Health and Safety requirements.

  • Develop experience in the delivery of group /individual interventions.

  • Build relationships with people.

Service Provision 

  • Ability to develop, plan, delivery, and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services to clients under vaired funding models including NDIS and My Aged care participants.

  • Assist in the support for children and adult’s inclusion and participation in the communities that they choose.

  • Provide services and supports in collaboration with others.

  • Maintain positive and productive relationships exist between Coree Occupational Therapy, the local community, and families.

  • Demonstrate an understanding and ability to provide services and supports within the parameters of the NDIA funding available.

  • Fulfill administrative requirements such as data collection and record keeping

  • Compliance with our duty of care to clients (Code of Practice).

  • An understanding of how to assess the equipment needs of clients in relation to daily activities including, domestic ADL, community access, mobility, transport and personal care.

  • Understands need for modifications to home and other environments accessed by people with a developmental, intellectual or physical disability

People Leadership

  • Contribute to maintaining an effective team.

  • Attend and participate in meetings, reviews and committees as required whilst seeking guidance and feedback.

Workplace Health & Safety

  • Work within the policies and procedures of the organisation

Selection criteria

  1. Demonstrated time management skills and ability to prioritise in a flexible and adaptable way.

  2. Understands how occupational performance relates to developmental stages, how it is impacted by developmental, neurological, intellectual and physical disability.

  3. Understand and demonstrates knowledge of Occupational Therapy assessment tools relevant to role/sector(s)

  4. Ability to work as a member of a team and prioritise workload to meet deadlines combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  5. Demonstrates a commitment to work, health and safety (WH&S) and displays behavior consistent with Coree Occupational Therapy Values and Signature Behaviours.

Essential

  • AHPRA-registered Occupational Therapist

  • Bachelor or Masters qualification

  • Australian Federal Police Check

  • First aid certificate

  • NDIS working with Children Check

  • Current drivers’ licence.
