Full Job Description
Part-Time - 0.6 FTE / 3 days per week

Western Private Hospital is seeking a highly motivated, knowledgeable and experienced professional that has a passion to maintain and implement quality systems in accordance with the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards to join the team as the Quality & Risk Manager.

This key role provides leadership and direction to the Organisation, Executive Team and Department Managers in the planning, implementation and monitoring of quality improvement and risk management programs, ensuring appropriate programs are implemented to achieve safe, patient focused quality care.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Quality & Risk Manager will support the Executive Team through accurate and timely reporting and communication to analyse needs, and will implement and evaluate quality and risk management systems, policies and procedures that support clinical governance systems and contribute to the achievement of accreditation, being responsible for ensuring structures and processes are in place to support compliance with standards of accreditation and licencing.

You will be responsible for facilitating the Hospital’s clinical and non-clinical risk management programs. This will entail overseeing the collection, management and evaluation of clinical indicators and the investigation and resolution of clinical incidents and adverse events.

Selection criteria

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an acute hospital setting

Extensive understanding of the concepts, principles and practice of Clinical Governance and the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards (NSQHS)

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in risk assessment, development and implementation of risk reduction strategies, principles and practices, relevant legislation, Australian Standards and certification processes

Experience in patient-related incident management and investigation and knowledge of risk management systems such as RISKMAN

Highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders and facilitate change management initiatives

Proven ability to analyse and synthesize data, and use it to drive improvement through the production of presentations, reports and submissions

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and organise high volumes of workload within deadlines

Candidates with a nursing or allied health background and who hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field will be highly regarded .
