An exciting opportunity exists for passionate Registered Nurses with a postgraduate qualification in Intensive Care Nursing to join the team at Sunshine ICU. Options exist for you to work in a part time, full time or in a casual capacity.


Sunshine ICU is expanding to help meet the growing needs of the diverse community from the western suburbs. Sunshine Hospital is home to the busiest STEMI service in the state and as a result has seen the introduction of the Western Health Cardiogenic shock program, Impella.


Sunshine ICU provides critical care and support to a unique cohort of Obestric patients. Working alongside the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital Western Health is able to provide best care to the women of the west. The maternity service at Joan Kirner is now the second largest in Australia.


Sunshine ICU has a strong clinical governance focus with a good mix of medical and surgical patients with Obstetrics utilising up to date equipment to provide outstanding care.

Day Oncology Unit – Cancer Nurse - Sunshine


The Chemotherapy Day Unit (CDU) is looking for experienced and enthusiastic Oncology Trained Registered Nurses on a casual basis (BANK). The CDU is located at Sunshine Hospital on 1E. The CDU operates from Monday to Friday from 0800-1730. The treatment area includes 15 chemotherapy chairs and a procedure room with 2 recovery bays for oncology related invasive procedures.


To be successful for this role you must meet the following:



  • Successful completion of Bachelor of Nursing

  • Current registration with AHPRA

  • Experience in IVC/CVAD/chemo is essential for this role

  • Minimum 12 months working experience within an Australian hospital setting (not including placements)

  • Chemotherapy competency (eviQ 8 x ADAC modules preferred)

  • Experience administering chemotherapy

  • Ability to work 0800-1630 and 0900-1730 shifts

Cardiac Cath Lab – Critical Care Nurse


Western Cardiac Cath labs are some of the busiest in Melbourne offering acute and elective coronary intervention and electrophysiology services. We also provide a 24 hour on call service for acute myocardial infarct patients.


We have a passion for research and strive for use of current therapies to provide best care and pioneered a 24/7 cardiogenic shock programme in 2019 making us the first in Victoria to use the Impella cardiac pump device for this purpose. The department is supported by both Coronary and Intensive care units and a Cardiac diagnostic unit. This positon is Permanent Part Time.

Registered Nurse – Day Oncology Unit – Cancer Nurse


Day Oncology is currently seeking experienced nurses to join our Chemotherapy Day Unit (CDU). We have fixed-term and permanent roles available. The Day Oncology Unit is located at Sunshine Hospital on 1E and operates from Monday to Friday from 0800-1730.


The Division of Aged, Cancer and Continuing Care Services provides quality health care for patients in Oncology, Acute Aged Care, Geriatric Evaluation Medicine, Rehabilitation services, Palliative Care and Transition Care Services, across four Western Health sites. 


Aged and Continuing Care Services play an integral role within the health care continuum, providing care from the emergency department and acute wards, through to non-acute care and into the community. These services support patient-centred goals, such as maximising independence and functioning, managing chronic disease, or provision of end of life care. This diverse group of services are fundamental in promoting effective and seamless services across the care pathway. To ensure that patients have appropriate and timely access to these services, the Division also provides a Subacute and Non-acute Assessment and Pathways (SNAP) service to facilitate pathways to the right care setting.


Cancer Services at Western Health are provided across a broad range of inpatient, ambulatory and outpatient settings. We provide secondary and tertiary cancer services for patients of the Western Region including; Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Haematology, Clinical Research, Palliative Care, Inpatient Acute Care, Day Oncology, Oncology HITH, Radiotherapy, Specialist Clinics and a dedicated Project Team.


With a diverse workforce of 441 EFT and an annual operating budget of $120 million, this Division spans the acute and non-acute care settings aiming to ensure timely and seamless transition between services for the people in our care.


About the Role


The role of the Registered nurse in CDU includes, administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other therapeutic treatment to patients affected by cancer, patient education and symptom management. Applicants must be competent in chemotherapy administration, intravenous cannulation and central line management.


This position also provides opportunities to the registered nurse to further their own professional development within cancer services, with the expectation to rotate between the specialities of Ambulatory Cancer Services.


Desired competencies:



  • Chemotherapy Administration (ADAC preferred)

  • IV Cannulation

  • CVAD Management


Duties:


The registered nurse in CDU will be responsible for working within a team to oversee the delivery of cancer related treatment to both inpatients and outpatients on a daily basis. The registered nurse is allocated to care for 3 patients simultaneously, whilst assisting and their peers with their workload.


The role involves coordinating appointments, accessing patients, conducting assessments, administering treatment, and referring patients to support services based on individual needs. The nurse in CDU is expected to participate in quality improvements and ward based portfolios.


The CDU nurse is responsible for ensuring they keep their skills and knowledge up to date with Western Health’s policies and their own cancer related knowledge.

Emergency Department Registered Nurse - Williamstown


An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated, and proactive emergency nurse to join the team at Williamstown Emergency Department. A dynamic emergency department, you will have full support from a large network of staff, including educational support and upskilling to achieve Advanced Life Support Certificate and competency as a Triage Nurse. The emergency department is open from 0800 – 2300 7 days per week.


Williamstown Hospital is a 90 bed facility providing emergency services, surgical services, rehabilitation and geriatric evaluation and management services, renal dialysis services and community rehabilitation and transition care services.
