Medical Receptionist/ Secretary required for Specialist Surgical practice in the Hills District/ Norwest (Part-time)

  • NEW, modern “paperless” office with own kitchen, within Norwest Private Hospital

  • Next to shopping centre/ cafes/ parkland
  • NO/ MINIMAL TYPING of letters in this position

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Prefer at least 2 years experience working in a medical practice
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, email and general computer administration
  • Experience with BlueChip/ Medical Director preferred
  • Liaising with health funds and Medicare, including online transactions
  • Surgical billing
  • Accounting, business and marketing

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Excellent customer service skills, effective listening and communication
  • Developing strong patient relationships - from initial enquiry to post-operative follow up
  • Must have excellent communication skills – friendly manner with patients and relatives
  • Highly organised and efficient
  • Impeccable time-management
  • High level computer skills (basic understanding is not enough)

Key Duties Include:

  • Handling phone calls from patients, relatives, private hospitals, other specialists and GPs
  • Creating and processing estimates and invoices for surgery
  • Dealing with patient inquiries
  • Organising operating lists, patient hospital admissions and tests (scans, biopsies, etc)
  • Patient bookings for operations and post op appointments within the clinic
  • Efficiently manage all patient data and appointments using BlueChip/ Medical Director medical software.
  • Maintain a "paperless" office.
  • File away dictated or transcribed correspondence.
  • Dealing with patients undergoing surgery and their families
  • End of day reporting
  • Stock Ordering
  • General administration duties
  • Bank and postal runs
  • Basic tidying of office (between visits by cleaners)
  • Provide secretarial support to specialist

Salary:

  • $25 - $35 ph depending on experience
  • Part-time (2-3+ days per week - flexible)
