Located on the beautiful Great South Coast, South West Healthcare offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and psychiatric services. The organisation serves a catchment in excess of 110,000 and comprises of a total of 282 beds and an extensive range of primary and community services. Warrnambool boasts excellent sporting, education (pre-school to university), social and cultural facilities. The city’s award winning foreshore promenade is a 5.7km path that stretches from the breakwater along the coastline to the Hopkins River mouth.

About the role

This newly developed position is available for an experienced Registered Nurse to improve the health outcomes of people with Movement Disorders through delivery of accessible, specialised care for people living in South West Victoria. The Movement Disorder Nurse is accountable for providing advice, support and coordination of specialist services, assessment and development of person centred goal directed care plans as well as facilitate access to appropriate specialist state wide and local services.

The position is also required to develop a resource of specialist knowledge and information to support people with Movement disorder and their carers; support initiatives to raise awareness and develop programs and supports; and participate in or oversee regular training and education for professional and the community. Developing working relationships with key support groups and associations, form collaborative relationships and liaise with health and aged care providers and participate and engage the broader community to support the needs of people with movement disorders are also all aspects of the role.

The successful applicant will maintain data records and understand the prevalence and course of Movement Disorders in our region, including monitoring quality indicators to support service improvement.

The position is 56 hours per fortnight available until July 2023 only.

What you bring

As a Registered Nurse holding current registration as certified by AHPRA you will have post graduate experience of no less than 5 years, preferably in working in a community health setting and with post graduate qualifications in Community Health. You will have a client focussed approach that is outcome based and is flexible to client's needs and have a demonstrated capacity to prioritise and problem solve in an environment of complex and demanding work.
