The Hospital Research Foundation Group is seeking an outstanding individual to join the Parkinson's SA team as – Graduate Occupational Therapist.

The Hospital Research Foundation Group is an impactful and dynamic not-for-profit, which supports health and medical research at hospitals across South Australia. Parkinson's SA is one of The Hospital Research Foundation Group charities.

Parkinson’s South Australia and Northern Territory is a not-for-profit organisation that has provided support and information to people living with Parkinson’s and other movement disorders, their carers, family, community and health professionals for over 30 years.

The organisation represents and supports the 8,000 people with Parkinson’s in SA and their family members. The organisation provides support across the continuum of the condition, from diagnosis, through the early stages and throughout the progression of the disease. Parkinson’s SA provides expert information and support services that no private or government agency offers.

Reporting to the Senior Occupational Therapist, the Graduate Occupational Therapist will provide support to clients of Parkinson's SA & NT and Stroke SA. The Graduate Occupational Therapist is responsible for completion of assessments, interpretation of assessment findings, and the formulation and implementation of Occupational Therapy intervention plans in collaboration with clients, primary support people and other relevant clinicians.

The role of the Graduate Occupational Therapist is to develop and deliver services and products to maximise choice, independence and wellbeing for people affected by Parkinson's, Stroke or another neurological / movement disorder through education, support and advocacy.

The Successful Applicants Must Have
  • Understanding and experience in the pathophysiology and Occupational Therapy intervention plans for neurological, cardiovascular, metabolic, and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Ability to deliver sound advice and education in a comprehensive and professional manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an Interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge surrounding NDIS, Medicare and My Aged Care.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with members of all ages, cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to interact with clients to create professionals’ relationships based on trust.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and perform well under pressure.
  • Passionate about improving the physical health and quality of life of people affected by neurological/movement disorders.
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Ability to work collaboratively or autonomously.
  • Resilient to change.
  • Genuine interest in seeking professional development opportunities.
  • Organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines, problem solve, negotiate, be flexible and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to engage in reflective practice and demonstrate awareness of own limitations and commitment to ongoing development of clinical and professional knowledge and skills.
