About the Department
Education and Learning is a multi-campus unit overseeing the education of staff across St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne.

About the Role
This position, reporting to the Manager, Continuing Development Programs will lead simulation based education to both SVHM staff and external participants. The Simulation Coordinator is responsible for engaging with a variety of disciplines within the broader hospital community and promoting the use of simulation as a teaching tool. They are also expected to connect with external user groups and promote use of the facility. This role also incorporates the development of new and innovative education programs that continue to support patient centred care and patient safety.

In addition, the Simulation Coordinator will be responsible for the management and advancement of the Simulation team. They are required to actively participate in the development and delivery of other educational initiatives for the broader Education and Learning team.

Classifications for this position will range from classification range XB1 - XB2 ($56.92- $58.27 per hour).


  • Management, performance development and support of simulation team members
  • Planning and coordination of simulation based programs for the calendar year
  • Maintaining budget for simulation programs and work collaboratively with administration team regarding quote provision for fee paying courses
  • Management of simulation resources including coordination and maintenance of equipment
  • Work with the Education Support team to coordinate and confirm course dates and requirements

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or equivalent qualification in another health related discipline.
  • Current AHPRA registration where applicable.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Advanced Clinical Nursing/Education or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a Clinical Education and/or Simulation role.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Health Professions Education or similar (desirable)
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training (desirable)
