Mount Gambier Hospital is a growing health service providing care in a range of settings including orthopaedic and medical inpatients, outpatients, rehabilitation and paediatrics. The Physiotherapy Department at Mount Gambier Hospital boasts a young, energetic team focused on improving services for the people of the South East. In this rewarding role as an Allied Health Assistant, you will support the Physiotherapy team in the delivery of high quality care to patients in Mount Gambier. Working under the supervision of a Physiotherapist, you will help monitor patient response to therapies. You will assist with patient transport to and from therapy sessions, and assist with patient preparation at the beginning and conclusion of therapy. Assisting patients with movement and physical tasks as part of directed therapy interventions, you will chaperone where requested. You will provide basic education to individual patients or groups and maintain therapy-related documentation. Mount Gambier is a growing city with a vibrant feel. There are many activities and social events suitable for young professionals and families within one hour drive from the city centre. Mount Gambier Airport has multiple flights daily to Adelaide and Melbourne (45-minute flight time).

You will hold or be working towards Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance, and have prior experience working in a service environment. Experienced in working with Aboriginal consumers and communities, you will be capable of providing culturally-appropriate health services. You will bring the ability to attend to routine work on a daily basis and use documented resources to enable safe work practices. Your sound communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Along with the capacity to work flexibly across a range of therapeutic activities, you will be able to perform the physical handling requirements of the role.
