About the role
The Patient Services Officer reports to the Patient Administration Manager and is responsible for clerical accuracy and efficiency within the Day Oncology Centre, Admission Centre, Front Office Departments to ensure a smooth admission and discharge process for all patients. The Patient Services Officer assists in achieving the goals of the Hospital, by working efficiently, effectively, co-operatively and collaboratively to contribute to the continuous quality improvement of the department. The Patient Services Officer will be mature and proactive with exceptional customer service and communication skills and a can-do attitude. The position will require the Patient Services Officer to possess empathy and discreet judgement and will have the ability to multi task and work without supervision.

  • Friendly with professional attitude, and empathetic towards patients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and phone manner with people of diverse backgrounds including patients, doctors and other health professionals
  • Be well presented, friendly and courteous
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task and to work in a busy environment
  • Provide attention to detail and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Sound IT skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of MBS billings and receipting
  • Account Management, including EFTPOS & Medicare billing
  • Duties will include front desk reception, managing online and phone appointments, and patient billings.
  • Experience with IPM and Medtech a very beneficial.
  • Available to cover a team roster over a 24 hour /7day period.
