Royal Hobart Hospital – Emergency Department


Under the broad direction of the Nurse Unit Manager - Emergency Department (NUM), take a lead role in the development and promotion of efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice clinical principles. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) will:

  • Provide leadership, direction and change management to facilitate the progression of the strategic objectives for the Emergency Department (ED) through the development and implementation of associated models of care, relevant service policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Be a clinical resource including demonstration of clinical expertise, providing support and leadership in a multi-disciplinary team within the ED.
  • Ensure the principles of contemporary evidence based practice and research are integrated into nursing practice through the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of nursing projects in order to improve outcomes for patients

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

c) Serious Drug Offences

Desirable Requirements

  • Relevant post-basic/tertiary qualification in Emergency Care.
