About the team

The Centre of Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health was established to assist promoting the concept of holistic health care and cultural security in relation to Aboriginal health and health care practice, research and learning.

The Centre is located at Bilya Marlee on the main UWA campus, however this position will be based at the Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (GRAMS) in Geraldton.

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will provide a high level of support to contribute to a project aiming to improve the brain health of older Aboriginal people. You will work as part of a collaborative team where your ideas, experience and initiatives will be valued.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Aboriginal Health Worker or Practitioner qualifications
  • Relevant experience as an Aboriginal Health Worker or Practitioner
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, internet and email
  • Ability to work closely and respectfully with older Aboriginal community members, Aboriginal health services and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, problem solve and work productively as part of a team

Essential requirements

  • Aboriginality is an essential selection criterion under section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act
  • Aboriginal Health Training Certificate IV or equivalent training and experience
  • Occasional travel within Geraldton
  • Current Western Australian driver’s licence and own vehicle
  • Hold current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration
