The Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) Mental Health Clinical Program is made up of a range of multidisciplinary teams providing recovery-focussed clinical services to consumers. These teams include inpatient and sub acute, community and rehabilitation teams in youth, adult and older persons’ services.

Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, the AHP3 Occupational therapist is responsible for the delivery of evidence-based discipline-specific assessment, reports, consultation, individual and group intervention and discharge planning to enhance recovery orientated outcomes for consumers, their families and carers. Depending on work area, the Occupational therapist may also be responsible for providing clinical care coordination of a complex caseload for consumers. The AHP3 Occupational Therapist demonstrates a proficient level of professional knowledge and skill and provides clinical supervision and clinical leadership within their designated team area.The Senior Occupational therapist is an experienced clinician who contributes to the delivery and continuous quality improvement of services. These may include localised projects, portfolios and evaluation. These lead to improved clinical outcomes and goal attainment for consumers.

Consistent with the relevant Model of Care and Service Plan, they work collaboratively with consumers, carers, and other staff within the team and the community, across the service and network of government and non-government organisations in order to develop and implement clinical plans that lead to reduced barriers, improved outcomes for consumers and support successful transfer of care and community tenure.

Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
