Your Opportunity

You will conduct a range of psychological assessments to determine job suitability for applicants seeking initial appointment as a police recruit or subsequent selection or promotion to a specialist position, and to monitor the ongoing mental health, wellbeing and ongoing job suitability of existing employees performing high-risk roles.

  • Current registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.***

    Will Include

    YOUR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    • Conduct psychological assessments, including psychometric testing, clinical interviewing and report writing for: initial selection; promotion and specialisation; and psychological health screening purposes.
    • Provide advice, guidance and recommendations to stakeholders regarding the suitability of applicants for appointment to general duties and specialist policing positions, and the ongoing psychological health and suitability of employees working in high-risk roles.
    • Refer psychologically vulnerable employees to specialised mental health practitioners for follow-up diagnostic assessments and/or treatment, as required.
    • Contribute to the ongoing review of psychological assessment processes and practices, and recommend continuous improvement strategies relating to selection and employee health screening standards.
    • Conduct research aimed at identifying psychological characteristics of highly successful versus unsuccessful police officers, temporal changes in employee wellbeing over time, and best-practice strategies for enhancing psychological resilience among employees working in high-risk roles.
