The Role
The Sonographer provides a range of ultrasound examinations for diagnosis and management of medical conditions, including screening and monitoring of patients on the State-wide Hepatitis program across a number of our prisons based in Victoria. These locations include Ravenhall, Castlemaine, Lara, Parkville & Malmsbury. This is a 12 Month Maternity Leave Contract - 0.8 / 0.9 FTE.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide medical imaging service consistent with qualifications and service requirements.
  • Provide ultrasound services as indicated on the monthly duty roster, across prison locations in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, Lara and the Loddon regional area.
  • Meet continuing professional development criteria for as required for a Sonographer.
  • Deliver safe, patient-centred services, ensuring patient safety and respecting patient diversity.
  • Perform daily tasks to maintain a clean safe work environment including equipment cleaning, restocking of consumables as necessary.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Qualification and experience in medical ultrasound with competency in the provision of the full range of ultrasound examinations.
  • Current registration as a Medical Sonographer with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry.
  • Current clear Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and communication skills
  • Highly developed verbal and written skills, including computer skills
