 The Royal Women’s Hospital is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of newborns and women of all ages. To join the Women’s is to be instrumental in forging progress towards health equity for women from ground-breaking research through to the bedside delivery of multi-disciplinary clinical care.

Creating exceptional experiences is at the heart of everything we do for our patients, their families, and our people across our specialised services within maternity, neonatal and women’s health.

The Women’s hospital offers treatment for all gynaecological conditions and is a tertiary referral centre for women with chronic pelvic pain, issues related to menopause, pelvic floor problems or other urogynaecological problems. The Women’s also cares for women who are having a termination of pregnancy or who have complications related to their pregnancy. The Women’s hospital provides a comprehensive breast care service in partnership with the Victorian comprehensive cancers centre partners.

Qualified nursing staff are rostered to work in the 24 bedded ward or the complex care unit (CCU) CCU focuses on caring for women from maternity, Gynaecology and cancer services requiring increased monitoring and intervention. Women requiring invasive monitoring, non-invasive ventilation and cardiac and respiratory function monitoring care for in this unit.

Our services offers assessments, diagnostics and treatment to women with benign and malignant disease. The Gynaecology and Cancer Service employs specialists surgeons, oncologists, senior nurses and nurse coordinators to provide outpatient and inpatient services. Care is delivered using a multidisciplinary approach, facilitated by regular tumour board and supportive care meetings.

As a tertiary provider we are committed to contributing to the research, education and innovation within our field in collaboration with the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre.

Your contribution

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Evaluation for individual health and functional status, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms through observations, physical exam and measurements

  • Clear communication of patient assessment and care plans

  • Collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • To work within the scope of practice and competency level and to clearly communicate to the nurse in charge any concerns

  • Preferred experience in gynaecology, women's health services or surgical services
