Mental Health Services, which forms part of Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH), offers a range of inpatient and community-based services for people experiencing mental illness issues in the Northern Mallee Region. We provide services to a diverse clientele including various cultural and indigenous backgrounds with at times quite complex needs.

The Acute Community Intervention Service (ACIS) is made up of several sub teams incorporating Triage, Service Access and Crisis Assessment and Treatment (formally CATT) which is 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The CAT team is a multidisciplinary team providing assessment, suicide risk response and short-term community follow up for its consumers who are presenting with acute signs of mental illness and / or present with significant risks to themselves or others.

ACIS also provides short – term intensive treatment and support for consumers whose acute mental illness can be managed in the community as an alternative to admissions to the acute inpatient unit. The ACIS team works closely with the Hospital’s Emergency Department, Victorian Police and other emergency services in providing quality client management and care.

About the Role:

The successful applicant will be required to work on a rotating roster that includes early and evening shifts inclusive of weekends, public holidays and overnight on-call shifts. Full-time and/or part-time applications will be considered.

You will be a member of a multidisciplinary team receive support, supervision, training and a comprehensive orientation program, regular in-service education, study leave and professional development opportunities. Registered Nurses will also be given the opportunity to work in the new Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) unit.

About You:

You will have AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (RN3), Psychologist (PSY2), Occupational Therapist (OT2) or a Social Worker (SW2) holding registration with relevant professional bodies.

In Addition, you will also have:

  • The ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and independently
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in Mental Health and Suicide assessment and planning
  • You will be dedicated to a team orientated, client centred, recovery focused workplace and be prepared to work in an, at times, challenging environment
  • Positive self-awareness and a caring and nurturing personality.
  • A current Drivers licence
