JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist – Consultant Psychiatrist vacancy at Royal Hobart Hospital.

All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce and the Tasmanian community.

The Mental Health Inpatient Unit (MHIU) is an acute inpatient mental health service, which assists adults who have a serious mental illness or disorder and need 24-hour care. It is located at the Royal Hobart Hospital. It works closely with other mental health services, particularly the Adult Community Mental Health Services in the South.



Salary

A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.




Location

Adult Mental Health Service South, including but not necessarily limited to RHH Mental Health Inpatient Unit, adult and community centres, other community facilities and consumers’ homes.



Duties

The Staff Specialist Consultant Psychiatrist will work for Adult Mental Health Services:

  • Providing clinical services of the highest possible standard to patients and their families.
  • Actively pursuing improved outcomes for patients by demonstrating leadership and participating in teaching and research relevant to psychiatry.


Essential Requirements

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.
