About the role

Reporting to the Senior Recovery & Performance Coordinator, this role is responsible for implementing a pilot Quality Assurance Program (QAP) to monitor and improve the quality of independent medical examinations. The role will work directly with internal and external stakeholders to drive the development and evaluation of quality initiatives.

The role includes using medical/allied health knowledge and expertise to influence improvement in more clinically appropriate use and undertaking of independent medical examinations.

Key accountabilities

  • Contribute to internal and external stakeholder forums and prepare communications (oral and written) to present key information and/or gather and analyse consumer/business requirements at a professional level (including but not limited to project documentation, briefs, evaluation reports). Reporting of pilot progress to all internal stakeholders including learnings and recommendations
  • Apply clinical knowledge into initial Quality Assurance review of independent medical examination documents working collaboratively with clinical leads from the Clinical Panel
  • Liaise with key stakeholders including Independent Medical Examiners (IMEs) Deakin University, Agents, Clinical Panel, WorkSafe Insurance Unit
  • Oversee implementation of a process and tools in a pilot environment to determine a sustainable quality improvement process aligned with broader performance management processes
  • Coordinate implementation of QAP pilot system, processes and develop project plan with risk, stakeholder and evaluation elements for implementation of pilot process
  • Refinement and development of tools and processes collaborating with clinicians on the clinical panel and academic staff from Deakin University
  • Undertaking initial clinical review of quality assurance reviews including identifying aspects that need specialist medical/allied health input

About you

You are an experienced medical or allied health professional, with a background in implementing quality programs. Your communication and organisational skills are highly developed, and you have the ability to liaise in a professional manner with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinicians to develop materials and evaluate processes. You are client centric, with the demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous environments. You also possess the following skills:

  • Expertise and experience in a relevant clinical area
  • Demonstrated ability in clinical quality assurance and improvement processes
  • Ability to analyse, evaluate and interpret data to develop relevant and appropriate solutions, ideas and recommendations
  • Comprehensive understanding of the clinical, legal, policy and operational environment (agents, independent medical examination, health and insurance)
  • Strong experience in executing quality written reports, briefs, presentations, training and strategic communications (oral and written) for internal and external stakeholders
  • Project experience in a pilot environment, scheduling complex programs of work, planning, delivery, risk assessments, gap analysis and management of proactive stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake effective research and analysis, capture input received from stakeholders to support the development of products and services, guidance materials, policy and procedures to support transition from pilot environment to core business
  • Relevant medical and/or allied health qualification(s)

*Please note that this is a Geelong based role which will require some travel to Melbourne
