About the role

South West Healthcare's (SWH) South Western Centre Against Sexual Assault (SWCASA) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced healthcare professionals (Social Workers, Psychologists and Registered Nurses) for Counsellor/Advocate positions within the service.

Our SWCASA team provides a service focussed on addressing the personal impact of sexual assault and family violence; providing interventions for children and adolescents who use sexually harmful behaviours; and delivering professional and community education to reduce incidences and improve the community's response to these issues.

The Counsellor/Advocate role is required to provide counselling and other clinical services to people who have experienced sexual assault or family violence trauma and their supportive network. Some of the SWCASA programs also include innovative service delivery in partnership with other agencies, including therapeutic services for adolescents who use family violence.

We currently have various part time and full time ongoing and fixed term positions available and applicants should preference their preferred hours in their application.

What you bring

Applicants must have excellent client engagement, assessment and counselling skills with an ability to display flexibility and responsiveness as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The role requires relevant tertiary qualifications (Social Worker, Registered Nurse or Psychologist) and ideally, significant experience working with children, young people and/or adults who have experienced trauma.

Employment Terms and Conditions will be in line with the Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Health Sector) Single Interest Enterprise Agreement 2016-2020 with the appropriate classification Social Worker Grade 2 or Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2016-2020 with the appropriate classification Registered Nurse Grade 3B Community Health, or the Victorian Public Health Sector (Medical Scientists, Pharmacists and Psychologists) Single Interest Enterprise Agreement 2017-2021 with the appropriate classification of Psychologist Grade 1 (Provisional) or Grade 2.

The successful applicant will be required to be eligible for and undergo the following:

  • Current Immunisation status
