About the Role


Monash Medical Centre has an exciting opening for an experienced occupational therapist to join the multidisciplinary team (MDT) servicing a busy caseload within the acute neurosciences stream comprising neurosurgery, stroke and neurology casesloads. This includes servicing private beds within the Jessie McPherson Private Hospital.


The G2 Occupational Therapist is a leader on the wards and is an integral part of the supportive multi-disciplinary team that conducts high quality assessments and intervention helping achieve excellence in patient centred care and timely discharges. Occupational Performance assessment and intervention is at the core of what we provide to patients to ensure robust discharges. This position requires excellent clinical reasoning with prior experience within neurosciences, highly developed communication and teamwork skills and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


Your clinical leadership will extend to supervising Grade 1 therapists and students, and/or allied health assistants. You will guide them in their professional development and support their learning needs formally and/or informally. You will support the Senior Clinician of the neurosciences stream in evaluating and developing processes for the occupational therapy department and will contribute to quality improvement processes and evidence-based delivery of occupational therapy services.

What we’re looking for in you


AHPRA registered Occupational Therapist with experience in bed-based acute neurosciences service provision.

  • Demonstrate leadership qualities within OT and multidisciplinary teams;

  • Demonstrate clinical reasoning and skills within acute neurosciences;

  • Implement clear communication and advocacy for best care of patients/families that access our services;

  • Engage patients in the participation of their treatment journey;

  • Take responsibility for own learning, development and evidence-based practice;

  • Collaborate with others in the development of department resources, quality improvement and research pursuits;
