Western Health is seeking a talented and skilled Geriatrician to join their growing team.

The role is for a temporary full-time member to cover Maternity Leave, for 12 months from May 3rd 2021 – May 1st 2022. Please contact either Dr Clare White or Dr Claire Long to discuss this option further.

Western Health provides clinical services to older people across multiple sites, and across the care continuum, from emergency, acute care, subacute and community services.

The Division of Aged, Cancer and Continuing Care provides quality health care for patients across Acute and Subacute Aged care, Rehabilitation services, Cancer Services, Palliative Care and Transition Care Services across four sites. Aged Care and Subacute Services play an integral role within the health care continuum, supporting patients to maximise their independence and functioning and, in doing so, minimise long-term health and community care needs. This diverse group of services is fundamental in promoting effective and seamless services across the care continuum. To ensure that patients have appropriate and timely access to these services, the Division also provides a Subacute and Nonacute Assessment and Pathways (SNAP) service to facilitate pathways to the right care setting.

The Geriatric Medicine Unit is operationally and professionally accountable to the Division and provides medical leadership in their area of specialty across the continuum of care.

The Unit has a strong focus on undergraduate and postgraduate education and promotes a close liaison with regional partners. The service fosters person centred care at all levels, is focused on innovation in service delivery, and is committed to providing safe, high quality care to our community
