Your new role

You will assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning to access their educational and developmental potential through the provision of a range of strategies and specialised support at an individual, group, school and area levels. You will also be responsible for:

  • Providing speech therapy support services to improve student learning.
  • Assess student needs, develop case plans and implement appropriate action from a range of accepted options.
  • Assist the coordination of student support services within a multi-disciplinary team and the effective use of case management approaches with high-need.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and other allied health professionals when undertaking well-being interventions that support students and schools.
  • Collaborate with other student support services team members in respect to complex cases, particularly in relation to breaking the link between socio-economic disadvantage and student achievement.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this entry level position, you will need the following before applying:

  • A graduate or post graduate degree in speech pathology.
  • Suitable experience in the contribution to programs, procedures and policies that foster resilience in children and young people and address their physical, social and emotional needs to support their educational needs.
  • Ability to recommend case management strategies and implement initiatives involved in the engagement and well-being of students.
  • Assesses, conceptualises and analyses student well-being issues that translate to improving student support services within professional guidelines.
  • Highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills to liaise with a range of people in the education community and beyond.
