Are you a Counsellor or Psychologist looking for a flexible role that will contribute to a diverse community? TAFE NSW is looking for counsellors to join on a temporary full-time basis at Kingswood.

The Opportunity
Be a part of a business that makes a difference in people's lives! As one of our TAFE NSW Counsellors, your previous skills and experience will be used to help with the delivery of a diverse range of counselling services to enrolled and prospective students, as well as educational consultancy and support to teaching and staff. This role belongs to the TAFE NSW Student Services branch. 
 

Currently, we have a temporary full time (35 hours per week) available until December 2021 (with a possibility of extension) located at Kingswood (Nepean TAFE NSW campus). 
An eligibility list will be created which may be used to fill future vacancies across Western Sydney Region: Baulkham Hills (local travel to Castle Hill), Blacktown, Nirimba, Mount Druitt, Kingswood, Richmond, Blue Mountains (local travel to Wentworth Falls & Katoomba). 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Registered psychologist or provisionally registered psychologist or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Recognised degree with an appropriate major in Psychology in an APAC accredited course. 
  • 2 years relevant and recent counselling experience, in personal counselling AND vocational and/or educational counselling OR post graduate qualifications in related counselling areas.
  • Knowledge of NSW secondary and post-secondary education/training systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, liaison and interpersonal skills to support students and staff members
  • Experience delivering counselling services via face to face and telepractice methods, especially for young people with mental health problems
  • Willingness to travel to other TAFE NSW campuses

The role will utilise your high standard of professional practice; the ability to work independently as well as a part of the team; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; well-developed time management and organisational skills; & computer proficiency.
