Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing

As part of the Middle Years project this position aims to develop and implement a school based speech pathology model to address the needs of the identified cohort of year 5/6 students to enhance their education engagement.
 
The Speech Pathologist is also responsible for developing and implementing Speech Pathology services to the Youth Health team, and participating in Youth Health initiatives and responsibilities.
 
Speech pathologist will be responsible for provision of assessment and management of communication difficulties for the cohort using a primary health care approach. They provide a professional level of service with a commitment to multidisciplinary and evidence-based approaches to managing clients and promoting health.

Essential Criteria:

Qualifications: Degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligible for practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia

Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated experience in providing paediatric Speech Pathology services (particularly experience with 9-12 year olds)
  2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with families from different psychosocial, socio economic or CALD backgrounds
  3. Understanding of Primary Health Care principles
  4. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team within a community setting
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of evidence based practice and commitment to professional development
  6. Highly developed and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  7. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training, in-services and education strategies
  8. Demonstrated ability to use a wide range of computer based applications and have a Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia.
