The newly developed Equipment Specialist Nurse position within Footscray Intensive Care has been developed with the future in mind. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of the leadership team and support a service preparing for further rapid expansion, improvements now will assist with the move to the New Footscray Hospital over the coming years.

The ICU Equipment Specialist Nurse is an integral member of the ICU team, ensuring timely and cost effective acquisition of products, services and equipment for the ICU. They provide necessary cost analysis and recommendations for the selection and evaluations of products, services and equipment. This role serves as a central point of contact for communication and questions related to equipment and consumables and is responsible for working with clinicians, other end users, manufactures, distributors and other departments internal and external to the organisation.

The incumbent works in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager to provide facilitated learning and leadership within the Intensive Care Unit to develop high quality clinical care skills with staff. The position is an advanced clinical nurse who stimulates enquiry, reflection and the use of evidence in clinical practice to promote excellence in patient and family centred care and advances practice change.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Hold a current NMBA registration as a Registered Nurse

  • Have completed a post graduate qualification in critical/intensive care nursing

  • Be passionate about patient care and achieving high quality clinical outcomes.

  • Be a positive role model and have strong clinical and interpersonal skills.

  • Be accountable and demonstrate a strong, supportive and engaging style.

  • Be a team player
