Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist / Women's Health General Practitioner (Obstetrics)


Fixed Term / Part Time - 12 Month Appointment


MBS Clinics - up to 2-3 Sessions available per week and Birth Suite On Call Cover


In October 2013, the Women's began providing maternity and gynaecology services at Sandringham Hospital (The Womens@Sandringham) to women of low to medium risk in its local community. Alfred Health manages the Sandringham site and provides a number of services to the Women's as part of the contractual relationships eg. theatre, anaesthetics and allied health staff as well as infrastructure and non clinical support. Maternity and Medical Staff employed within the service (Obstetrics & Gynaecology as well as Paediatrics) are employees of the Women's.


The current vacancies are for our MBS Clinics which operate on a Monday PM / Tuesday AM & PM / Thursday AM & PM and there is also an opportunity to be a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist on our both a permanent or on the reliever Pool to assist with any back fill of Clinic, Theatre and On Call Birth Suite cover due to staff being absent due to Leave. The Senior Medical Staff or Visiting Medical Officer positions report directly to the Head of Unit - Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Womens@Sandringham and will provide exceptional services to the patients within the Obstetrics and gynaecology services.


The successful applicant will:



  • Providing high quality outpatient clinical services - MBS Clinics (Suitable for GP Obstetrician and O&G Consultants)

  • Providing high quality inpatient clinical services

  • Participation in the provision of emergency on call obstetric services to the Royal Women's (O&G Consultants only)

  • Play an active role in training registrars and resident medical officers and participate in the teaching of medical students and other health care trainees attached to the Women's Services

  • Assisting the Head of Units with some administrative responsibilities.

  • Standard Responsibilities as per the Organisational Directives (includes awareness and work in accordance with RWH policies and procedures, including OHS, EEO and Confidentiality and ensuring staff under direct supervision are working within these guidelines. Will include other duties as directed consistent with the employee’s skill level and classification).

The Classification and Salary scale will be dependent on experience and you will be appointed and in accordance to the AMA Victoria - Victoria Public Health Sector Medical Specialist Enterprise Agreement 2018-2021.
