CEDA's membership spans every state and territory and includes Australia's leading businesses, community organisations, government departments and academic institutions. The organisation was founded in 1960 by leading economist Sir Douglas Copland, and his legacy of applying economic analysis to practical problems to aid the development of Australia has continued for over 60 years, influencing reform and impact across the nation.


POSITION OVERVIEW


The Membership Manager will be based in our Brisbane office with primary account management responsibilities for a targeted group of organisations across CEDA’s diverse membership base and for identifying and recruiting new members. This role has the flexibility to be part time or full time capacity.


You will use your outstanding communication skills to build relationships with senior leaders, acting as a liaison between members and the wider organisation and actively identifying and communicating members’ interests and expertise across CEDA’s policy and content areas.


Reporting to the Director Membership and working as part of a geographically dispersed Membership team, your confident, pro-active, solutions focused approach to delivering exceptional customer service will also enable you to identify and engage with prospective members who are aligned to CEDA’s priorities for Australia’s future economic development, outlined in our Connecting People with Progress report. Primarily, you will be responsible for:


  • Account management of 60-80 member organisations, including primary relationship with decision maker and gaining insight into the organisation and how they can best engage with CEDA to maximise member value proposition
  • Recruitment of new members including research into target sectors, developing and managing a pipeline of member prospects and onboarding of new members
  • Supporting the implementation of a national membership model, including membership growth, engagement and retention strategies
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local representatives of member organisations
  • Actively contributing to achieving sponsorship targets through identification of members interested in specific content, presenting opportunities to members and negotiating sponsorship agreements in collaboration with the Programming Team
  • Contributing to membership financial forecasting and reporting
  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and other CEDA teams to maximise member value proposition and develop innovative solutions to better engage members and attract new members
  • Contributing to the development of processes and procedures to support delivery of membership strategy
  • State based leadership visibility at public events and member-only roundtables i.e. assume host/MC role in Leadership Team absence
  • Contribute to development, implementation and maintenance of CRM and membership management systems as required
  • Work collaboratively with the team of Membership & Events Coordinators to ensure all membership-related administration is completed to the highest standard


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE


Professional attributes


  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, business or policy related disciplines
  • 5+ years experience in membership, business development, professional services, sales/ marketing/communications, or related field
  • Proven ability to build high level relationships with senior executives and stakeholders, and work collaboratively with all sectors including government, business, academia and NFP
  • Demonstrated success in member value proposition, engagement and retention strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a pipeline and conversion of prospects through to revenue in both membership and sponsorship
  • Keen interest in current and emerging public policy issues
  • Demonstrated success implementing successful business development and engagement strategies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confident presentation abilities
  • High level time management, prioritisation and administrative skills
  • High level of financial literacy and experience in working with targets and meeting budgets
  • High-level competencies in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint and CRM systems
  • Customer service focus (internal and external)
