Access Assistant Program, Disability Services:

The Access Assistant Program (AAP) staff support students with a disability and/or complex and/or invasive health care needs, (to enable access to an educational setting of their choice). All Unlicensed Health Care Workers (Health Support Officers) in AAP have regular training and individual competency-based assessment by registered nurses, in order to provide health support.

The RN-Delegation of Care Program - provides health and environmental assessments, development of individual client health plans and training and individual competency assessment for Health Support Officers. 

Health Support Officer:

The Health Support Officer (Unlicensed Health Care Worker) uses procedures and specific health plans to undertake tasks for one or more student who has invasive health care needs, to enable attendance and fully participate as students in an educational setting. The Health Support Officer (HSO) will be trained and individually assessed for competency by a registered nurse to provide this health support, according to a health plan. The health support ranges from personal care to administering medication, to delegated complex and invasive health care tasks and includes responding to emergency situations.

Holding a Current First Aid Certificate, you will also need to have a current driver's licence.

The Health Support Officer works effectively and sensitively to establish a positive rapport with students. Demonstrating your ability to understand, adhere to and apply written instructions, you will be capable of identifying and managing emergency situations, using established procedures. Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety practices and procedures and the application to this role will also be required.

Working school term time only, there are positions available in various location around Metropolitan Adelaide.
