About the role


Medical Practitioner who is registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a specialist in Chemical Pathology, and eligible to qualify as an Approved Pathology Provider.


Demonstrated and documented continuing professional development.



Eastern Health Pathology is an expanding public service pathology provider to the Eastern Health Network situated at Box Hill Hospital. The position is for a Chemical Pathologist in a teaching hospital setting at Eastern Health Pathology. Eastern Health Pathology has three Laboratories located at Box Hill hospital, Maroondah hospital and the Angliss Hospital. If you are a dynamic Chemical Pathologist and would like the challenge of working in a diverse and growing health care environment at Eastern Health this could the position for you.



  • To provide high quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in chemical pathology, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities.

  • Provide a high quality consultative service to clinicians and other professionals at all EH sites and to referring General Practitioners.

  • Contribute to the delivery of an accurate, reliable, timely and cost effective diagnostic service by all EH laboratories.

  • Be available for consultation after hours.

  • Participate in departmental and hospital quality improvement activities. Be a NATA assessor or have good knowledge of NPAAC Standards and NATA accreditation processes.

  • Participate in educational activities within Pathology, clinical meetings within the hospital as well as professional association meetings.

  • Initiate, participate and encourage clinical and scientific staff to contribute to research and development projects.
