  • Will undertake scientific research on a range of projects in the field of aquatic animal health

 The Opportunity.

This is an exciting opportunity to assist in the development of projects, planning for the Aquatic Animal Health Research section of the Aquaculture Research and Development team. The Aquatic Animal Health Research Laboratory provides the aquaculture and seafood industries with research services and specialist advice relating to long-term diseases of aquatic animals of economic significance in order to support development and sustainability of the seafood industry in Western Australia. You will work on a range of projects focusing on investigating health and productivity issues in commercially important aquatic animals.

The Research Scientist undertakes aquatic animal health related scientific research and provides support for the development of projects, including planning, budgeting, management, and reporting.

The Ideal Candidate.

You will require a scientific background and multi-disciplinary skills (molecular biology, biochemistry, bacteriology, cell culture etc) in aquatic animal health and some experience in working in a laboratory.

The ideal candidate will be able to conduct scientific research and be able to communicate with a range of stakeholders and ability to work within a team.

You will also have well developed conceptual and analytical skills to provide practical solutions to problems
