JOB DESCRIPTION

Full Job Description
Forensic Intervention Services at DJCS has recently created a new team of clinicians to support individuals entering custody. The team provides distress interventions, wellbeing support and assistance during their time in protective quarantine (a requirement in response to COVD-19). Currently the team does its work via remote communications (phone and video calls) partly from home and partly from FIS offices in Franklin St in Melbourne’s CBD. With changes in COVID-19 restrictions there may be scope for this work to be done in person at our prisons in Melbourne CBD and Ravenhall.

This newly created service has been considered by staff and individuals in custody to be essential in supporting the wellbeing and safety of the individuals in protective quarantine. As a Clinician (PQS), your tasks will include:

Provide supportive counselling sessions and wellbeing information to individuals in custody
Consult and liaise with other Corrections staff to ensure the individuals in custody are managed as best as possible during their 14-day quarantine period
Work via phone, video conference or face to face (if safe to do so in accordance with the Chief Medical Officer's guidelines) across a six-day roster
Prepare case notes professionally and in a timely fashion
Other relevant duties as reasonably required within the evolution of the role and pandemic response.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new team within Forensic Intervention Services during a challenging time for Victoria. We are seeking individuals who are immediately available to start training in June 2021 and can work full time, 38 hours per week, over the six-day roster.
