The Townsville Hospital and Health Service is the largest tertiary health service in northern Australia; we are responsible for the delivery of healthcare services, education and research within a region covering over 149,500km with a population of approximately 250,000 people.

We cover the continuum of healthcare services from advanced, highly specialised, tertiary-level healthcare at the main hospital to secondary and primary-level hospital and community healthcare across 20 facilities. The main facility is located adjacent to one of Queensland’s leading tertiary institutions, James Cook University.

The Townsville Hospital Renal Unit provides acute and chronic renal replacement therapy in a variety of settings, including incentre, satellite and home based haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

The Renal Unit staff also provide regular education and outreach services to community groups, other staff and family members involved in caring for people with renal failure within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

About your opportunity

As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients and nursing staff within the Renal Unit and associated clinics to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.

Generous remuneration package value up to $109,750 p.a. comprising salary range of $89,568 to $95,908 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6), 17.5% leave loading, 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse who can demonstrate the following:

  • Bachelor of Nursing and current AHPRA registration.
  • Extenisve knowledge and recent clinic experience in the assessment and clinical management of patients across all renal disciplines.
  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, organise work priorities and provide nursing leadership.
  • Highly Desirable: Completion of a relevant post graduate renal qualification.
  • Advanced communication and computer literacy skills, particularly in Excel.
