Aveo is seeking a dynamic Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant to join the team at Aveo Newstead Aged Care, QLD.

About the role & Aveo Newstead Aged Care:

  • Part-time position available (Mon, Sat, Sun 10:00 to 18:00)
  • Weekend penalty rates may apply
  • Reporting to the Aged Care Manager, you will be supporting the Leisure & Lifestyle Officer in planning and implementing recreational programs and social activities; by assessing each residents needs, interests and abilities, and consulting with them or their carers/relatives to provide an individualised recreational plan. This will involve supporting the Leisure & Lifestyle Officer in maintaining written assessments of resident's needs, abilities and progress while maintaining and improving self-respect, self-confidence and quality of life for our valued residents. 

Aveo Newstead Aged Care is a state-of-the-art facility located in GasWorks. The facility offers our residents to move through different stages of life with all different levels of care within the same facility. We are located close to Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills train station with regular bus stops 1 minute walk from the building.

Aveo Freedom Aged Care's purpose is to provide a caring, safe and inspiring environment that supports our residents in living their lives to the fullest through the latter stage of their ageing journey

About you:

  • A genuine interest in the aged care sector
  • Previous experience in a similar position required
  • Current First Aid & CPR certificate
  • Current Police Check certificate
  • Current NDIS clearance check or ability to obtain one
  • General knowledge of Aged Care or working with older people
  • Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment and drug & alcohol screening as part of the recruitment process

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • High-level written and verbal communication skills
  • Literacy and numeracy skills
  • Sound office or business administration competencies
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office Suite and on-line network applications
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy, patience and listening skills
  • Be customer service focused
