The Position

We are seeking a Behaviour Support Clinician to become a valuable member of the team. The main function of the Behaviour Support Clinician is to provide assessment and interventions for clients with varying types and degree of disabilities, including physical, neurodevelopmental, behavioural and mental disabilities. The Behaviour Support Clinician will work alongside other behaviour support clinicians, occupational therapist, clinical psychologists, and psychiatrists in a multi-disciplinary team model to deliver services directly to clients, or to their carers and other stakeholders (e.g. training and education).

This position would suit both a newly qualified or experienced psychologist, occupational therapist, specialist teacher or educational/disability support worker who is passionate in the disabilities sector. The scope of work includes (but is not limited to) neurodevelopmental disorders, cognitive disorders, behavioural disorders and mental disorders.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Provision of specialist behaviour support to individuals, couples and families and the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support.
  • Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments, develop Behaviour Support Plans and provide Specialist Behaviour Support intervention.
  • Compilation of reports and letters for patients, insurers, doctors and other health professionals
  • Attend and participate in case conference, team meetings and team building events
  • Make appropriate referrals to internal and external services

Essential criteria:

  • Behaviour Support experience and/or qualification (NDIS registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner is highly relevant).
  • Experience conducting functional behaviour analysis
  • Qualification and/or Experience in Specialist Behaviour Support including developing behaviour support plans or individual education plans.
  • Experience in evaluating, developing, implementing and fading restrictive practices
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour support
  • If you are a Psychologist, have full General Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Psychologist
  • If you are a Psychologist, you have, or is eligible to obtain, a Medicare Provider number
  • Excellent counselling and clinical skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • An outstanding work ethic
  • The ability and initiative to work autonomously while being part of a clinical team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Evidence of clinical supervision and ongoing professional development
  • NSW Working with Children’s Check
  • QLD Blue Card

  • Vaccination Records
  • Unrestricted Driver’s licence and willing to travel

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience working with behaviours of concern and complex needs
  • Knowledge in Trauma informed practice
  • Experience working in educational setting
  • Competency and experience in the Disabilities Sector will be highly regarded, especially for candidates with experience and qualifications in Behaviour Support and Assessment.

This is a contract position, but the actual terms of employment (including remuneration) will depend on level of skill, qualification and experience that the candidate possesses.
