The Hospital

The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides secondary and tertiary care to children and young people across the northern and western suburbs; specialist paediatric healthcare to the children of Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia; and is the designated state-wide provider of services including paediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. As a quaternary centre for complex cardiac surgery and organ transplantation, the RCH cares for the sickest children from around Australia.

The Medical Education Officer

The Position:
  • Is responsible for the design, coordination and evaluation of medcial education for junior medical staff employed at the Royal Children's Hospital.
  • Collaborates with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders including the Director of Medical Education, the Education Hub (an interprofessional collaboration for clinical education) and Melbourne Children's Campus Partners to optimise education delivery.

To be successful in the role, you will have
  • Demonstrated experience in education and training program design, delivery and evaluation
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field and/or relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge fo the roles and requirements of junior medical staff in teaching hospitals
  • Excellent personal organisation and ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a time
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Teaching and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to work well with a wide range of stakeholders from different professional backgrounds
  • Experience or capacity to work with IT systems to support education including eLearning platforms, Learning Management Systems, and videoconferencing platforms.
