About Department
Neurosurgery at SVHM provides a complete range of acute and elective Neurosurgical care to the entire state of Victoria across a broad range of inpatient and outpatient settings. The department is involved in over 1200 operations/ procedures per year. Our complete patient care model involves preadmission clinics, clinical pathways, and multidisciplinary clinics including Neuro-oncology, Epilepsy, and Neurovascular. The department has a strong emphasis on the treatment of brain tumours in collaboration with radiotherapists and oncologists, incorporating a team approach for the management of brain tumours. Research, at both the clinical and basic science level is a key focus of the Department, often being done in collaboration with the Neurology department.

About the Role

To provide a high level of administrative support to the Director of Neurosurgery and the clinical neurosurgical staff, including the Centre for Clinical Neurosciences and Neurological Research. The Administrative Coordinator will be required to assist the Director of Neurosurgery to achieve the Department’s strategic goals, manage departmental and interdepartmental communications and ensure all support is provided within the policies, procedures and values of the organisation.

Classifications for this position will be a HS2 ($66,768.00 base salary per annum)

Duties

Manage and coordinate diary/meeting schedules, including meeting/appointment requests and arrange meetings as requested

Coordinate functions and meetings as requested, including timely preparation of agendas completion of minutes and distribution

Provide generalise administration tasks such as reception, email, mail, work orders for maintenance.

Correspond with relevant internal SVHM and external professionals and their representatives, SVHM patients and other relevant stakeholders on behalf of the Neurosurgical medical staff and keep all parties informed of relevant communications, meetings and schedule changes

Compile inpatient private Health insurance billing information for submission to finance.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Certificate/Diploma level qualification in a business or health related field (desired)

Previous experience in health care setting

At least two years’ experience in an administrative role

Ability to determine workload priorities, self-initiate and meet deadlines

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
