Your new company
This federal government departments purpose is to deliver government programs to serving and former serving members of the ADF and their families.The role of the Assistant Director Workforce Planning and Development reports to the National Director – Clinical Innovations. This position is responsible for the supervision, mentoring and coaching of staff.

Your new role
In accordance with the principles of workplace diversity, Work Health and Safety, participate in work practices, APS values and APS Employment Principles the Assistant Director – Workforce Planning and Development will:

  • Manage the Workforce Planning and Development program of works to support high quality mental health service delivery, including but not limited to establishing and implementing a specialist strategic human resource planning and management function to deliver national workforce planning, development and training. This includes:supporting the teams, projects and clinical quality improvement activities with the provision of effective clinical and strategic advice, strategies, plans, channels and deliverable;
  • applying project management skills which includes developing quality project documentation using best practice approaches, undertaking complex stakeholder management, conducting risk assessment and applying mitigation strategies;
  • applying change management; and
  • providing subject matter expertise to deliver procurement activities, manage associated contracts, and ensure compliance.

What you'll need to succeed
There are no mandatory clinical qualifications required. Qualifications, skills and experience in:

  • Mental health, psychology, organisational psychology, social sciences, humanities or a related field
  • Workforce planning and development
  • Training and assessment, change management, and project management are highly regarded

A high standard of written and oral communication is essential for this role. This role has many competing priorities. The successful applicant must be IT proficient and able to work flexibly across multiple issues with limited guidance.

There is a high degree of stakeholder engagement in this role, requiring the successful applicant to have complex stakeholder management experience and demonstrated communication skills to effectively manage these relationships.
