Theatre Nurse Manager

Hamilton House is a leading Day Surgery which specialises in the provision of day surgery procedures ranging from skin cancer removal and reconstruction, hand surgery as well as cosmetic plastic surgery. Our Mission is to provide individualised high-quality plastic surgical and nursing care of a compassionate nature, in a caring medical environment, with contemporary professional skills to ensure health and wellbeing of our patients. Currently we are looking to appoint the key role of Theatre Nurse Manager to lead our established day surgery team.

Reporting to the Medical Director and working as a primary resource to Dr Richard Hamilton, the primary duties in this role will be to coordinate the nursing services within the operating theatre and recovery of Hamilton House Day Surgery. Providing a pivotal communication link between the nursing staff, the Medical Director/ the Practice Manager this role will collaborate and liaise with Nurse Manager and Office Manager re theatre bookings and lists.

Other key areas of responsibilities include:

Patient Care
  • Oversee the management of operating theatre, allocation, rotation and direction of staff and duties and general coordination of the day-to day functioning of the theatre
Documentation
  • Innovate and participate in the development of nursing policies and procedures
Equipment
  • Ensure nursing staff are fully competent to operate all equipment in their jurisdiction by arranging training by supplier/competent professional
Stock Control
  • Maintain Medical supplies and stock, arrange orders and liaise with suppliers
Infection Control
  • Oversee the infection control program to ensure implementation of standard precautions as specified by contemporary practice
  • Ensure all CSSD personnel follow correct and current codes of practice for reprocessing of reusable medical devices
Staffing
  • Instigate orientation and training for new theatre staff
Ideally suiting an individual with a background across Theatre Nursing within a Day Surgery/Hospital setting, individuals looking to take a step forward in a Nursing leadership role are strongly encouraged. Offered as a full-time role with hours usually structured across a four day working week, a typical week would generally be structured Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri, an extensive handover, competitive salary and the chance to work with a respected clinical team known for longevity and tenure with Hamilton House await the successful candidate.
