The RACS psychology department comprises of Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Neuropsychologists and Health Psychologists who work across the sub-acute network of Kingston Centre, Dandenong and Casey Hospital. RACS psychologists work from a patient-care perspective, delivering high quality, evidence based assessment and treatment. The department values itself with key initiatives and portfolios to improve service provision and quality of psychological practice.

About the Role

RACS psychologists deliver evidenced based treatment to a variety of patients and have key roles working within the multidisciplinary teams across the sub-acute wards and Aged Person Mental Health wards, using a patient-centred care perspective. The Grade 2 Clinical and/or Health Psychologist will undertake a diverse role in investigating, identifying, documenting and providing psychological assessment and treatment to rehabilitation patients with psychological, behavioural and/or cognitive factors that are impacting on the admission and discharge planning. RACS psychologists work within the multidisciplinary teams and in addition to psychological therapy, provide specialist support around behaviours of concern and education to teams as needed on mental health issues.

The role is a fixed term position 0.4EFT (2 days per week) ending 15/01/2022. The position may be at any sub-acute site (Kingston, Casey or Dandenong), depending on change processes associated with Covid19. Flexible, family friendly hours are supported.

About You

You enjoy working within a team environment and have a keen focus on fostering relationships to improve service provision and deliver patient-centred care. Your ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to a wide audience is a core competency for this position, along with excellent time-management skills and knowledge in working with patients with chronic and/or complex psychological issues. You are passionate about your work and promoting the role of psychology more broadly within the public health framework. You have sound science-practitioner skills and value the importance of evidence based practice and utilising objective data to determine outcomes. You enjoy working in a team environment. Registrars are keen to expand their skills and actively participate and engage in the group supervision provided by the Psychology Registrar program.
