  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To provide, effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in Emergency Medicine.

The Employee’s duties, responsibilities and obligations include but are not limited to:

1) Contributing clinical expertise to patient care and providing guidance to junior physicians.

2) Performing administrative duties and risk management.

3) Ensuring the highest standards in patient care are maintained.

4) Verifying complex diagnoses and facilitating treatment plans.

5) Hiring, supervising, and mentoring healthcare professionals and collaborating with consultants.

6) Keeping informed on advancements in the field and contributing to medical research programs.

7) Ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.

8) Reporting to senior management, as well as liaising between administrative and medical staff.

9) Ensuring consistent and accurate medical recordkeeping practices.

10) Exercise independent judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills, in consultation with supervising medical staff.

11)Deal with matters in a confidential manner.

12) Respect the professional values of staff.

13)Demonstrated ability to work independently, within a supervised complex clinical environment utilizing excellent clinical skills, judgment, and expertise.

14) Locum Medical Officers are required to have a good knowledge and understanding of Hospital procedures. Working collaboratively with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team.

Point of Contacts:

Director of Medical Services: Available for clinical matters and advice.

JMO Manager: Provides day to day administrative advice and assistance.

Matters that are dealt with include pay, accommodation, registration and any other HR matters.

Director of Emergency Medicine: is available at all times for advice on clinical, educational and personal issues.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1: MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia

2: Australian PGY3 or equivalent (as determined by AMC competent authority pathway) with relevant experience, in acute medicine namely ICU, anaesthetics, emergency, paediatrics, general surgery and general medicine.

3: Demonstrated interest in Emergency Medicine.

4: Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment and work effectively as part of a multi- disciplinary team.

5: Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain a high caseload.

6: Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer skills, along with good organisational and time management skills.

7: Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self education.

8: Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
