JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Purpose

Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist services for optimal patient outcomes.
Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.


Key Accountabilities

  • Conducting a wide range of diagnostic medical imaging procedures including CT, MRI. Ultrasound and interventional techniques, including vascular, Barium meals, Enemas and small bowel studies, Myelograms, epidural injections, joint/bursal injections/arthrograms, sialograms, venograms, thoracic and abdominal paracentesis, Sonograms, T-Tube cholanglograms, percutaneous transhepatic cholanglograms, US and CT guided biopsies and abscess drainage, Hysterosalpingograms, arteriography (desirable to be implemented as services further develop) under the clinical supervision of the Director, Medical Imaging Department, Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
  • Reporting of general, CT and ultrasound images at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus for the patients of the Coffs Harbour Health Campus, Dorrigo MPS, Bellingen Health Campus and Macksville Health Campus. Such reporting is under the direction of the Director, Medical Imaging Department, Coffs Harbour Health Campus
  • Reporting on images between the hours of 0800 to 1700 and as rostered for on-call afterhours as directed by the Director, Medical Imaging Department, Coffs Harbour Health Campus
  • Provide best practice evidence based clinical services to achieve quality patient outcomes.
  • Undertake supervision and education within the clinical environment of junior medical staff and other relevant staff to foster safe clinical practice.
  • Utilise information systems to enable informed decision making and care planning.
  • Communicate with staff and clinicians to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Actively participate in risk management and quality programs to improve organisational processes and own practices.
  • Comply with relevant legislation and regulations, NSW Ministry of Health policies and MNCLHD procedures to assist in meeting Activity Based Funding, Commonwealth and State targets.
  • Actively promotes and participates in patient safety and ongoing quality improvement programs. Engages in practices that promote the best possible health outcomes for patients/clients, and supports a culture of patient safety, clinical quality and innovation.
