  • The Merchandise Planner is responsible for Forecasting, Inventory Planning and In-Stock position
  • The Merchandise Planner is responsible for commercial support from Ranging, New Product introduction, In-season management to End of life of product.
  • The Merchandise Planner is responsible for the creation and management of Purchase orders, prioritising reception as required, and ensuring the smooth flow of stock into store
  • The Merchandise Planner is responsible for Right Stock in Stock, through Open to Buy (OTB) management, Improvement of Inventory efficiency and Stock balancing across out network.
  • The Merchandise Planner is responsible for Store communication as a key point of contact for all Inventory enquiries

Responsibilities

Planning & In-stock Position

Work closely with the buyer and business pod team to improve forecasting and in-stock position.
Demand Forecasting
a. Maintain product sales forecast, in collaboration with Buyer
b. Manage forecasting data
c. Ensure that product stock and sales are in line with business expectations, based on historical and forecast data
Detailed analysis of current and forward stock position on A lines / New lines / Core Range products and implement adjusted forecasts where needed on a regular basis.

Commercial support

Work directly with the buyers to ensure full commercial support from Ranging, New Product introduction, In-season management to End of life of product.

1. Manage stock position for catalogues, sales and promotional events
2. Review catalogue performance with the Buyer and take learning's for future catalogues
3. Identify with the Buyer slow selling lines and action plans to accelerate growth or reduce inventory accordingly
4. Play an integral part of range reviews, preparing data and views required to ensure that next steps/actions can be determined after each review.
5. Monitor, manage and adjust the implementation of the Products Strategy including, Gross Margins, Markdowns, Stock Levels, Weeks of Cover and Stock Turns
6. Working with the Buyers, Marketing, Store Design, Retail Operations, and Visual Merchandising to successfully introduce new products and manage products through their life cycle in the business
7. Work with buyers to determine and manage exit strategies recommending items for clearance and controlling aged inventory reporting

Manage Inventory flow from Supplier through to Store

Create and manage Purchase orders, prioritise reception as required. Ensure smooth flow of stock into store

1. Purchase order creation / modification / deletions both for local and overseas vendors.
2. Liaise with supply chain/shipping/master data to ensure accurate shipping data
3. Monitor inbound shipments / orders to assist in setting priorities to meet out of stock requirements.
4. Ensure regular maintenance of Central Order Management (COM) parameters
5. Arrange product allocations as required.

Inventory Management - Right Stock in Stock

Open to Buy (OTB) management, Improvement of Inventory efficiency, Stock balancing.
1. Manage Open to Buy (OTB) in order to respect inventory budgets & forecasts
2. Improve stock turns and GMROI through better inventory efficiency
3. Ensure stock balancing across DC network

Store Communication

Key point of contact for store inventory enquiries

1. Focus on inventory enquiries and requirements from all Fantastic Furniture stores.


About you:
HSC Degree and qualification in Business management
3-5 years as a Merchandise planner 1-2 years' experience as a Merchandise planner with a Furniture / Home-wares retailer

Merchandise planning in a retail environment
Highly commercial
Good excel level
