JOB DESCRIPTION

Wallaby Hill is a Premier Equestrian Centre featuring regular Eventing, Competitions and specialised clinics. It is a boutique brand well known among Equestrian circles throughout Australia and overseas.

Located on 40 hectares in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Wallaby Hill began by importing products for horses into Australia. Since then, the organisation has grown to not only sell products for horses and riders but has become a popular venue for major horse events, clinics with international instructors, hiring facilities, and the agistment and sale of horses.

This position is responsible for preparing and training the horses at Wallaby Hill for riding, work and competition, both at home and at competitions.

This role is focused on achieving success and growth for the organisation, particularly in the following areas: horse care, horse clinics, facility hire, horse sales, training horses and developing the successful breeding program.

As, Horse Trainer your role at Wallaby Hill will include:

· Preparing and training horses for riding, work and competition.

· Training young stock to accept riders and equipment and obey verbal and non-verbal commands. Includes accustoming them to the feel of equipment and human contact.

· Tacking and untacking using relevant equipment for each discipline.

· Develop the successful breeding programme.

· Day to day running of Wallaby Hill including; cleaning stables and surrounding areas, preparing feeds in accordance with individual nutrition plans, feeding horses around the property, ensuring all water troughs are clean and have sufficient water supply, retrieving horses from paddocks and preparing for exercise, cooling off and bathing after exercise.

· Competition preparation including; clipping, bathing, plaiting, grooming and ensuring the horses are in top show condition.

· Horse exercise and fitness including; trotting out, fast work on gallop track, use of water walker and horse swim, ground work with youngsters.

· Organisation and care of horses at National and International Competitions, in quarantine and transport.

· Strengthen existing relationships with visitors, agisters, suppliers, customers and staff

· Maintain animal health records, treat minor injuries and report serious conditions to Veterinarians when necessary

Your skills must include:

· Strong understanding of Wallaby Hill operations and a strong commitment to our ethos.

· Strong knowledge and dedication to the welfare of horses in your care.

· Specialised knowledge of the Equestrian world, specifically the Olympic disciplines of Eventing, Dressage and Show Jumping both in Australia and Internationally.

· Specialised knowledge of Equestrian Event running both in Australia and Internationally.

· Good connections both in Australia and internationally with key figures in the sport, including riders, instructors and trainers.

· Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.

Suitable applicant's must have over 3 years experience of training horses both in Australia and Overseas.
