JOB DESCRIPTION

The role requires a high level of operational management skills and experience, excellent operational judgment and critical thinking skills, high level communication and negotiation skills, exceptional change management and business development skills and an ability to adjust to changing work demands effectively.

The Health Promotion Manager is responsible for managing the overall operations of health promotion services across NSW, including oversight of the design, implementation and evaluation of health promotion programs and projects. The position is responsible for the effective, efficient and successful management of workforce, productivity, budget, quality control and work health and safety measures. The Health Promotion Manager leads the delivery of health promotion services with a focus on business development, management systems, processes, continuous quality improvement, risk management and best practices. The position provides oversight of all health promotion staff recruitment and selection activities. The Health Promotion Manager is responsible for leading change within the team and high level liaison with relevant stakeholders including Local Health Districts and Primary Health Networks.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Degree qualifications in health promotion, public health or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience in health promotion including the development, implementation and evaluation of traditional and digital health promotion programs and campaigns
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in business planning, human resource management, industrial relations and project management
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively drive performance to targets and budgets whilst maintaining high levels of staff engagement
  • High level knowledge and experience in planning, implementing and embedding change
  • Strong leadership, supervision and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and adapt effectively to change
  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, written and oral communication skills including community education, consumer engagement, advocacy, partnership development and networking
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement and adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Current unrestricted NSW driver’s license and ability to travel throughout NSW

Desirable

  • Post graduate qualifications in management
  • Sound knowledge of current reproductive & sexual health care issues
  • Demonstrated experience in managing health promotion programs working with relevant population groups, particularly people from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, CALD background, people with disability and/or young people
