JOB DESCRIPTION

This collaborative graduate program offers two great experiences in contrasting healthcare environments in East Gippsland.

A new vacancy has arisen to participate in our East Gippsland Collaborative Graduate Nurse Program in 2021 and gain a broad range of experience in your first year of nursing. This program will provide the incumbent with a valuable and varied experience as you embark on your role as a registered nurse.

The East Gippsland Collaborative Nurse Program involves a partnership between BRHS and local primary care and community providers and provides the graduate nurse the opportunity to consolidate practice in various areas including both clinical and community settings. The program consists of a rotation in the hospital and a rotation at a primary care/community setting, at 0.8 eft each. This vacancy will participate in a rotation at Omeo District Health (ODH) and BRHS.

Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) is a multifaceted and growing regional health system providing a comprehensive array of health care services to the East Gippsland community. Omeo District Health (ODH) is located in the Victorian High Country. It has grown from a district hospital originally to a more modern facility. ODH supports existing services at Swifts Creek and Ensay along with numerous surrounding small communities throughout the catchment.

We aim to equip our graduate nurses with the skills and confidence to successfully initiate known theory with practice within the health care setting. The graduate nurse will be encouraged to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills throughout the program and into their professional careers. The goal is for you to acquire experience and knowledge within a supportive environment, enabling you to become a competent, confident, accountable and professional health care practitioner.
