St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara.

About the Role

Under the guidance of the Team Manager and Team Consultant Psychiatrist, and in conjunction with team members the Enhanced Care Clinician will provide and coordinate short to medium term additional specialist, targeted therapeutic interventions to consumers that are receiving case management services. D+A Interventions provided will be aimed at supporting psychosocial recovery, fostering individualised recovery, independence, and improved health outcomes for consumers that have been identified as having severe and complex needs. Interventions provided could include, but not be limited to, specialist D+A assessment, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, family therapy, peer support, interventions focused on activity/vocation or additional treatment interventions to meet physical health or drug and/or alcohol needs.

Classification Range
  • .OT/SW Grade 2 YB20 - YB23 or YC42 - YC45 ($81,328 - $93,490 per annum)
  • Psychologist Grade 2 PK1 - PK4 ($87,287 - $98,285 per annum)
  • RPN Grade 3 NP81 - NP74 ($91,000 - $101,056 per annum)
  • Work within the Strengths Model of recovery orientated practice.
  • Build a therapeutic alliance with identified consumers and their family/carers and actively engage them in the planning, delivery and evaluation of their care.
  • In collaboration with the treating team, undertake the assessment, coordination and provision of treatment and delivery of targeted evidence based interventions to identified consumers with complex mental health related needs and their family/carers in line with SVMH policies and strategic direction.
  • Utilise discipline-specific skills as appropriate and as required by consumers, their family/carers and the Service.
  • Assist in the provision of primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services, community development and education, liaison and linkage to other agencies that also provide support to people with mental illnesses as required. This includes participating in and contributing to locally held portfolios.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of at 2 years post qualification clinical experience within Mental Health for SW, OT and RPN.
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (all disciplines except Social Work).
  • RPNs - Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Relevant postgraduate qualification in mental health.
  • Occupational Therapists - Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Psychologists - Registration as a psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009). Practice endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist or eligibility to enter a Clinical Psychology registrar program with the Psychology Board of Australia; or
  • Social Workers - An approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Clinical experience in a D+A or dual diagnosis role
