Registered Nurse

Royal Australian Air Force - Adelaide, SA

Government, Defence & Emergency
Source: uWorkin

As an Air Force Nurse, you'll experience enormous variety and rewarding challenges, as well as meaningful experiences, such as supporting communities in need and joining humanitarian operations.

In addition, you’ll be provided with world-class management training, working within a supportive team environment and the opportunity for personal and career development.

You’ll also be paid an excellent salary plus generous superannuation, have access to subsidised accommodation, free medical and dental, and free access to sports and fitness facilities.

Your role

Picture yourself putting your nursing skills to the test, by supporting disaster-relief missions domestically and around the world.

A career in nursing has its unique rewards and demands. But imagine how much more interesting that career would be working across Australia or possibly overseas with the Air Force.

Many of your nursing duties will be familiar, but your workplace could range from a well-resourced hospital to an operational base providing aid in a combat zone, or the scene of a natural disaster.

You will be required to show both initiative and flexibility as you adapt to the dynamics of remote localities, new conditions and other challenges.

In addition to fulfilling the deployed role, you will gain and employ valuable primary health care skills whilst working at base health care centres.

Plus, as an Air Force Officer you’ll be an inspirational leader and mentor too, motivating your team to perform at the highest level.

The areas your skills could be employed in include:

• General nursing duties

• Inpatient care

• Outpatient care

• Health promotion

• Aeromedical evacuation

• Health Education

• Facility Management

• Equipment Management

• Operational deployments

• Deployed Operating Theatres

• Administration/Staff roles

• Unit Command

Few nursing positions offer the opportunities the Air Force can. If this sounds like a new challenge you'd like to accept, apply now (below).

• Fully-paid officer training

• Once trained, starting package approx. $79,381 p.a. plus superannuation (salaries correct as of 01/10/2020)

• Numerous other benefits

• Training in QLD, SA and VIC

• Job location will be at one of the many Air Force bases across Australia

Entry Requirements

• Australian Citizen

Two of your previous three years of clinical experience must be in a full-time capacity as a Registered Nurse, and in an acute care area relevant to Air Force Nurse duties. Please note that full-time experience in paediatrics, geriatrics or maternity is not acceptable as evidence of two years of clinical experience.
