The Hospital
This 114-bed level four regional referral hospital provides a range of acute specialist services (resident & visiting) including Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatric Medicine, Oncology, Haematology, Obstetrics, Intensive Care, Respiratory Medicine, Endocrinology, Neurology, Rehabilitation Medicine Renal Dialysis and Rheumatology.
The 24 hour Emergency Department (ED) sees 19,500 emergency presentations per annum. More than 2,500 operations are performed annually with a full scope of General Surgery. The facility has 10 maternity beds and 600 babies are born each year.
The Job
- As Senior Resident Medical Officer / Resident Medical Officer you will participate in the management of acute surgical patients both emergency and elective, from admission to discharge
- Under the supervision of a consultant you will undertake appropriate diagnostic and operative procedures
- You will assist in operations and be able to gain further surgical experience
- Participation in the after-hours and relief roster

Requirements
- Currently registered or eligible for Provisional or General registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience including operative experience in General Surgery.
- Minimum Level 2 supervision requirement.
- Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years.
- Ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
